This isn’t a narrative about sports activities, although the New England Patriots function prominently in it.

Once I turned up at Boston’s South Station on Sunday to catch the Patriots Recreation Prepare to Foxborough Station, I used to be alone. I had determined pretty final minute to attend the sport and, regardless of providing an additional ticket to every of my Boston-area associates, there have been no takers. That’s fantastic, in fact, as I don’t thoughts watching sports activities alone!

The universe, it appears, had different plans. Once I boarded the prepare, there was one other wheelchair consumer already onboard — about my age, he was along with his dad and a few their associates. Though the stereotypical Bostonian is often assumed to be unfriendly, that was not the case with this crew! They rapidly invited me to hitch their dialog and, by the tip of the one-hour trip, I had made some new associates!

Though their seats had been within the membership part, and mine within the decrease bowl, they weren’t glad with sending me on my technique to sit alone. “Include us,” they mentioned, “and we’ll do some ‘wheeling and dealing’ to get you in.”
